When I was back in NYC on summer break from school out west I had the opportunity to see Wire. They were without a doubt one of the most charismatic and surreal groups I’ve ever had the opportunity to see, and at CBGB’s no less. This was an exciting albeit enigmatic kind of band. One of my favorites to this day. They went from 1 minute and change to two minute plus songs ala Ramones to evolve into what one reviewer called “Punk Floyd” by their 3rd album. An arty edgy creative group of guys that never disappoints. They even ventured into electronic music for an album or two and lost the “E” in their name.
